Chicken Inn suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 1-0 against Hardrock at Chahwanda Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gamecocks had not lost a match in the first two games after winning once against Triangle and posted a draw against Herentals.
But they were sticky against Hardrock who scored the only goal of the match through substitute Wilfred Madzungu.
Yet it was the Bulawayo team who should have scored first when Francis Mustapha huddled clear goal when dispossessing the Hardrock goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaunga.
But the striker failed to nudge in, instead opting to lay the ball off for a teammate and just like that the chance was lost.
They did score though but it was adjudged to be offside.
Overall the match was balanced but a defensive mix up in the crucial moment spoiled the day for Chicken Inn whose coach Tonderai Ndiraya said: “The match was balanced but we lapsed in concentration at the crucial moment. We got our chances but failed to bury them. Such is the nature of the game; you fail to score and you get punished. But we have to dust up and redo the process once again.”
