Ndiraya hails Chicken Inn's tactical discipline after back-to-back victories

Chicken Inn FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya praised his players' tactical discipline and determination after the Gamecocks secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Hunters at Heart Stadium, describing the result as another important step in the team's revival.

The victory marked Chicken Inn's second consecutive win in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, with George Majika's second-half penalty sealing maximum points and taking the Gamecocks to 30 points after Matchday 23.

Ndiraya admitted he was delighted to see his side record back-to-back victories once again after enduring a difficult period earlier in the campaign.

"I think it's our second time now to get two wins in a row, so I'm very happy from that angle," said Ndiraya after the final whistle.

The Chicken Inn coach revealed that the Gamecocks went into the match with a clear tactical plan, having studied FC Hunters' style of play and prepared specifically to counter it.

"We came here knowing that Hunters would really be on it, and they were. We planned very well because we knew they would overload the midfield and then use their outlets. We prepared along those lines, and in the end we had to match what they were doing."

According to Ndiraya, his players executed those instructions effectively despite facing a determined FC Hunters side on their home ground.

"I'm happy that it really worked. There were moments when they dominated possession, but that was expected. We stayed organised and remained patient."

Rather than chasing the game unnecessarily, Ndiraya explained that his side waited for the right moments to attack.

"When they had the ball, it became natural for us to hit them on the break. We managed to do that well, Michael was let loose, and eventually we got the penalty."

Majika converted from the spot in the 64th minute to hand Chicken Inn all three points, and Ndiraya believes the victory was fully deserved considering the discipline shown throughout the match.

"It was a hard-fought victory, especially away from home. Those are the kind of results that build confidence and character."

The experienced coach also highlighted the significance of finally collecting maximum points on the road after struggling away from home in recent weeks.

"It has been difficult for us in recent weeks, particularly away from home, so getting a full set of points here is very important."

While pleased with the recent improvement, Ndiraya insists his side is still a work in progress and believes further reinforcements could strengthen the squad even more.

"We are hoping to add some new faces during this transfer window just to improve the quality within the squad. Hopefully that will help us continue pushing the team higher up the table."

With consecutive victories now secured, the Chicken Inn coach hopes the latest success will provide the momentum needed as the Gamecocks continue their climb in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

For Ndiraya, Saturday's victory was not only about three points, but also proof that his players are beginning to understand and execute the tactical identity he wants to see from his team.
